Host Centre
Fellows can choose to perform their fellowships:
- in a EUROSPINE Surgical Spine Centre of Excellence (SSCoE) OR
- in a non-EUROSPINE Surgical Spine Centre of Excellence (Non-SSCoE)
Important: It is recommended (but not mandatory) to complete the fellowship in EUROSPINE's Endorsed Host Training Centres (SSCoE centres). If fellows plan to undertake a fellowship at a non-SSCoE centre, we strongly recommend to confirm this with EUROSPINE before starting the fellowship. To do this send a copy of the Non-SSCoE checklist fillled in and signed by the head of department of the host centre for review to education@eurospine.org, no later than 3 months before the start of a fellowship.
Please read the submission instruction below carefully and consult the fellowship validation guidelines before applying.
Requirements
A fellowship must meet the criteria below and additional ones set out in the fellowship guidelines:
- minimum of 6 months
- undertaken at a centre outside of ones own workplace/hospital
- if not SSCoE, the host centre must meet the criteria set out in the SSCoE guidelines
Non-SSCoE Centres
If the chosen fellowship host centre is not a EUROSPINE Surgical Spine Centre of Excellence (SSCoE), fellows are required to submit a written approval request to EUROSPINE for undertaking the fellowship at the chosen host centre, prior to the fellowship taking place (i.e. at least 3 months in advance). The centre will then be assessed based on the quality criteria described in the EUROSPINE SSCoE Guidelines to ensure it meets criteria for appropriate education.
To submit the written approval:
Financial/Organisational support
EUROSPINE will NOT provide the fellow with any support, financial compensation, salary or grant. Fellows are responsible to organise their fellowship directly with their chosen host centre.
