EUROSPINE Spinal Endoscopy Courses 2025

Overview

Endoscopic spine surgery is transforming minimally invasive techniques, offering improved surgical outcomes with reduced tissue damage and faster recovery. These courses provide hands-on training for surgeons at different levels of expertise, allowing them to either begin their journey in spinal endoscopy or refine advanced skills in cervical, thoracic, and fusion techniques.

The courses take place at IRCAD, Strasbourg, a globally recognised centre for surgical training, and are taught by an expert faculty.

Limited to 24 participants per course.

Course Options

Two distinct courses are available, tailored to different levels of experience:

Each course is standalone and must be booked separately. Participants are encouraged to attend both courses for a comprehensive learning experience.

Introduction to Spinal Endoscopy – 26 June 2025

Course Objectives

This course is designed to introduce spine surgeons to the principles of spinal endoscopy, enabling them to integrate these techniques into their practice. Participants will gain:

  • A fundamental understanding of endoscopic spine surgery
  • Hands-on training in interlaminar and transforaminal approaches
  • The ability to identify and navigate relevant lumbar spine anatomy
  • Practical experience in lumbar discectomy and decompression procedures
  • Strategies for avoiding and managing complications

Course Content

The course follows a blended learning format, combining e-learning (available from May 2025) with a live hands-on session at IRCAD.

Techniques covered include:

  • Interlaminar endoscopic techniques
  • Transforaminal endoscopic techniques
  • Unilateral biportal endoscopic techniques

Participants will rotate through training stations, working in small groups to ensure an optimal learning experience.

Advanced Spinal Endoscopy – 27 June 2025

Course Objectives

This course is designed for surgeons with prior experience in spinal endoscopy who wish to refine their skills and expand their expertise to more complex procedures. Participants will:

  • Gain knowledge of cervical and thoracic endoscopic procedures
  • Develop skills in endoscopic fusion techniques, including monoportal and biportal approaches
  • Learn advanced decompression and fusion procedures
  • Troubleshoot common surgical challenges
  • Discuss complication management strategies with expert faculty

Course Content

The Advanced Course focuses on practical application, with live hands-on training at IRCAD.

Techniques covered include:

  • Posterior endoscopic cervical foraminotomy
  • Cervical unilateral laminotomy for bony decompression
  • Transforaminal thoracic endoscopic decompression
  • Endoscopic fusion: monoportal and biportal techniques

Participants will rotate through skills stations and engage in case-based discussions to enhance clinical decision-making.
