Low Back Pain: What You Need to Know

The low back spine, in the back area between your ribs and your hips is called the Lumbar spine. It is made up of 5 bones called vertebrae and having cushions between each bone. These cushions – known as discs, help when we walk or run acting like a shock absorber so that the bones do not rub against each other.

Spinal Stenosis

Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the canal area where the spinal cord or nerves travel from the head to the lower back. This narrowing puts pressure on the spinal canal contents. Spinal stenosis can be found in any part of the spine; the lower back and the neck areas are the most commonly affected. If located on the lower back it is called lumbar spinal stenosis; if it is in the neck area, it is called cervical spinal stenosis.
